Aldemir Martins (Ingazeiras CE 1922 - São Paulo SP 2006)
Aldemir Martins was one of the most important Brazilian artists of the 20th century, distinguished as a painter, printmaker, draftsman and illustrator. In 1953, Aldemir Martins received the Jury Exemption Certificate at the 3rd National Salon of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, as well as the Nadir Figueiredo Acquisition Prize at the 2nd São Paulo Biennial. During this period, the artist also extended his work into other languages, creating stage designs and releasing the woodcut album Cinco Carreiras de Cururu, in partnership with Paulo Vanzolini.
