Tree And Rays

oil on canvas

2026

73 x 120 cm

Part of the recent production by Tiago Carneiro da Cunha, Tree and Rays articulates landscape, rest and threat in an enigmatic atmosphere. A reclining figure rests under a tree, while rays cross the sky, introducing a tension between the stillness of the body and the imminence of the catastrophe. The work brings leisure and vulnerability closer, making rest an ambiguous condition, suspended between pleasure, disappearance and absurdity.
