Marysia Portinari (Araçatuba SP 1937)
Marysia Portinari is a painter, designer, record label and sculptor. He studied drawing and painting with Waldemar da Costa (1904-1982) and also took classes on the history of art with Flávio Motta (1916) at the Museum of Art of São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand (MASP), in 1955. His first exhibition at Galeria Prestes Maia in 1957 and, in the same year, had works shown in Lisbon and Madrid. Dividing his life between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, he became an assistant and student of his uncle, the painter Candido Portinari (1903-1962). In 1959, he painted a mural for Lloyd Seguros Gerais in São Paulo.
In 1963, he received the award for "Best Painter of the Year", granted by TV Excelsior, and, later, by the São Paulo Press Association in 1971. She was elected president of the Clube dos Artistas e Amigos da Arte, "Clubinho", in 1974. In 2008, the book Illustrated Book of Art: Life and Work by Marysia Portinari: The Invention of Memory, edited by the Instituto Olga Kos of Cultural Inclusion, with text by art critic Jacob Klintowitz.
