José Alves Bezerra (Carolina MA 1939)
Painter, draftsman and illustrator.
Starting in 1964. From 1957 and throughout The 1960s work as a draftsman and illustrator of several works, including the introduction to Dante, by Father Salvatore Viglio. He held his first solo exhibition in 1974, in Belo Horizonte. From 1972 onwards, he began to execute several portraits for Brazilian and international personalities, such as the king of Oman, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Antônio Bento and Roberto Campos. It has works in public and private collections in several countries, such as Brazil, the United States and Canada.
Criticism

"J. Bezerra declares that he invariably makes a narrative in each of his works. This narrative is evidently not the same as that of traditional art. symbols, even those who express themselves through figures or signs, are not accessible to everyone. (...)
