Biography

Jorge Mori (São Paulo SP 1932 - idem 2018)

Jorge Mori was a painter, draftsman and printmaker. He began studying painting with Yoshiya Takaoka in 1944. His first solo exhibition took place in 1947, when he was 14 years old. He was a member of the Grupo Guanabara between 1950 and 1952. In 1952, he traveled to Paris to study painting, mosaic and fresco techniques. Although he initially attended French academies, he pursued his studies largely on his own, copying classical works at the Louvre Museum to learn the techniques of great masters such as Botticelli, Fra Angelico and Paolo Uccello, among others. In 1960, he returned to France to research the use of the classical glazing technique.
