Julio Le Parc (Mendoza, Argentina 1928 - França 2026)
Julio Le Parc was an Argentine visual artist, born in 1928 in Mendoza. He lived and worked in Paris from the 1960s on. He was recognized as one of the leading figures of op and kinetic art. He began experimenting with light, color and movement in the 1950s, developing installations and sculptures that investigated visual perception and viewer engagement. In 1960, he co-founded the Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel (GRAV), a collective that promoted the public's active interaction with the work and proposed a dematerialized art critical of the market.
He took part in international exhibitions from the 1960s on, maintaining an uninterrupted career for more than six decades. He held solo exhibitions at institutions such as The Met Breuer (New York, 2018), Instituto Tomie Ohtake (São Paulo, 2017), Pérez Art Museum Miami (Miami, 2016) and Centro Cultural Kirchner (Buenos Aires, 2019). His works are in museum collections such as MoMA (New York), the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris and LACMA (Los Angeles).
