João Ghelfi (Curitiba PR 1890 - Idem 1925)
Pintor.
Study, from 1907 to 1911, with Alfredo Andersen (1860 - 1935), in Curitiba. Between 1913 and 1914, he traveled to Paris, where he frequents workshops, perfecting himself in painting. In 1921, he installed a tent that became a meeting point for young intellectuals, painters and journalists who engage in debates about modern art. He specializes in portraits and, alongside Lange de Morretes (1892 - 1954) and João Turin (1880 - 1949), defends a paranista style.
Criticism
"Nas several watercolors and pastries that Mr. João Ghelfi exposes a smiling soul and a complex talent, whose progress is visible almost from one work to another, reminds me of two or three of his landscapes, mainly, vibrant, delicate and fine, that They gave an excellent impression. It seems to be a very future boy, if he has perseverance and a good strength of ambition. and other works tell us of very real vigor and brightness, giving us legitimate and high hopes in relation to the young author who produced them".
