Biography

Luiz Pinto

Sete Lagoas, August 19 de 1939, São Paulo , August 23, 2012

painter, designer, illustrator e teacher brasileiro.

Under the inspiration of the great academic exponents of the 19th and 20th centuries, and with the guidance of plastic artists Edgar Walter and Guignard, Luiz Pinto began his career in the 1950s in Sete Lagoas, MG.

In the beginning, his works were representations of the Reality, presented in a free way and faithful to its character and origin: rural landscapes, baroque churches, hovels, backyard bottoms, road curves and dead natures that represented the simplicity of the rural daily life of Minas Gerais. Between the 60s and 80s, his admiration converged on the work of national masters: Almeida Jr., Baptista da Costa, Antônio Parreiras, Eliseu Visconti, Oswaldo Teixeira and especially to the work of his master and friend Edgar. Walter, a fundamental character in his technical development.

The landscape painting became his main theme and objective of his studies. Research on light, chromatic diversity and composition solutions were its resources to obtain the exact color and harmony in the reproduction of our tropical nuances. His painting seeks silence and an almost religious contemplation. It explores nature with the intention of penetrating its meaning and manifesting a reflection of peace and calm. His works reflect this maturity.

By transferring residence and studio from Belo Horizonte to São Paulo, other fundamental aspects were added to his career: the art market, living with other artists, the beginning of his activity as a painting teacher, participation in exhibitions and in salons of fine arts, first as a competitor and later as a juror.

He is recognized as one of the main representatives of figurative art in Brazil. In its paintings, the landscape prevails, but now under the influence of São Paulo: the wealth of the coffee cycle farms, stretches of beach, sophisticated dead natures and exuberance of the Atlantic Forest.

From the 80s, through the frequent trips to Europe, seeks direct contact with similar people outside the country. It researches thematic characteristics and landscape solutions explored by the great classical masters and contemporary European artists, in cultural institutions such as museums, art galleries and libraries.

Influenced by habits, climate, colors and European architecture, began its last phase. Always having the landscape as a fundamental element, the plan now approaches the appreciator. Their tables are an invitation to coexist. Fruit of emotional maturation and technical evolution, his works start for an impressionist experience. Few brushstrokes are enough for him to realize his intentions. Lights and colors are explored in all its natural manifestations and the infinite possibilities of composition become an almost playful exercise of the senses. providing lovers of his works with the experience of pleasure through the look.

&dquoWhen I paint a painting I try to convey all the happiness I'm feeling through it. Only when people capture this message, I feel fulfilled in my craft." Luiz Pinto
