Poli Pieratti (Brasilia, in 1987)
Poli Pieratti is an artist graduated in performing arts from the University of Brasília (UnB) and a master's degree in painting from the University of Lisbon. His training goes through experiences at the Parque Lage Visual Arts School and the Theater Research Center (CPT) in Antunes Filho, bringing to his creation a bodily, scenic and procedural dimension. Currently, Poli Pieratti is mainly dedicated to painting and installation.
Poli Pieratti's research is built between: between figure and abstraction, between memory and invention, between what is seen and what is not yet named. The Cerrado, a ground of origin, appears not as a fixed landscape, but as a living force, crossed by myths, affections and primordial elements: earth, water, air and fire. In his paintings, the shapes do not end; They appear, they unravel and return, as if they obeyed another time, closer to the memory than to the representation.
Poli Pieratti works on different scales, from small intimate surfaces to large screens that occupy space as an expanded landscape, so that each dimension convokes a different type of approach of the look and the body. With a presence in national and international exhibitions, such as the national exhibition Movimento Hotspot, the Bienal Caixa de Novos Artistas, the exhibition Imagem e Movimento at Casa França-Brasil and the Open Galerias das Belas-Artes, in Lisbon, where it received the Zet Gallery Award, its work has been highlighted by vehicles such as Harper’s Bazaar, the globe, metropolises and other platforms of contemporary art.
Poli Pieratti participated in fairs such as SP-Arte and ARPA, where he received the Mandacaru seal, and in 2026 he will be at SP-Arte Routes. His last individual exhibitions were submerged (2023, Zipper Galeria, São Paulo, curated by Catarina Duncan), Terra do Mar (2024, Espaço Alto, São Paulo, curated by Luiza Testa), the animal comes with the name (2024, Galeria Cavalo, Rio de Janeiro, with text by Sofia Badim), Solo (2025, Palácio das Mangabeiras, Belo Horizonte, curated by Sarah Ruach) and The Invention of the Maré (2025–2026, Galatea, Salvador, with text by Veronica Stigger). In 2023, he held an artistic residency at Domo Damo, in a house designed by Paulo Mendes da Rocha, where he deepened his research on large scales and spatiality. In 2025, she was the first artist residing at Palácio das Mangabeiras, a space created by Oscar Niemeyer, an experience that reaffirmed the relationship between her painting and architecture, also arising from her past in Brasilia.
In her most recent work, Poli Pieratti It continues the attention dedicated to recognizable visual elements and their most unstable derivations, establishing a field in which the image is based on the articulation between familiarity and displacement.
