For more than ten years, intervening on the street as an urban artist, Chivitz nailed his name in the artistic-underground scene of São Paulo through his works intrinsically related to graffiti and tattooing. Creator of a hybrid language that wanders between these two fields of painting and installs itself on various supports, the artist presents works endowed with unmistakable aesthetics, marked by the use of lilac, gray, black, white and magenta colors. The originality of his style is the result of his experience in the urban atmosphere of skateboarding and hip hop and other city interfaces, instigating his creative mind all the time.
Since the beginning of his activities as a graffiti artist, his works were focused on the Figurative style of painting, in which astonishing puppets and ghostly figures predominate, with humorous and sarcastic features predominate. The seemingly quiet and peaceful appearance of his characters is easily called into question from his facial and bodily expressions, which reveal personalities loaded with a dark malice, particular to the universe of the street.
There is clearly in his works a game of opposites translated now by the colors used, sometimes by the theme of the works. The black color represents a depressive and oppressive negativity responsible for reinforcing the dark universe of the characters.
On the other hand, the use of violet and lilac rebalances the scenario and purifies the spirits of the characters. The theme of his works is also permeated by two types of reality, the first, of a dreamlike character in which the characters settle in psychedelic scenarios and find themselves in unreal situations, and a second that corresponds to the mundane reality, surrounded by concrete elements of everyday life. This aesthetic translates a deadly yet animated universe capable of drawing smiles from the public.
Chivitz demonstrates talent in the various aesthetic aspects of graffiti, from its bombs, characterized with its own symbols stating &dquoChive&rdquo up to the production of large-scale panels. The artist is also innovative with regard to the typography of his works, whose letters have roots in traditional graffiti and in São Paulo pixação.
His works can also be contemplated in urban art galleries, dispersed throughout the city. The artist's performances have gained notoriety in another artistic sphere, the cinema, in which he has been acting as a prominent character in recent national films: &ldquoo magnate&rdquo and &ldquoinversion&dquo, or In the international &LDQUOBlindness&Amp;RDQUO with an undefined debut. His participation in video unfolds for the authorial series of &ldquoos Complainteiras&rdquo, in which he is director, editor and producer. The series treats with humor some everyday situations experienced by graffiti partners, and narrated by their respective faces placed upside down in the video and illustrated by the artist himself.
