Biography

Armando Romanelli

Inspired by the great European impressionist masters, Armando Romanelli found his great mark in the tropical landscapes of Brazil. The contrast of light and dark, often dramatic, takes on a new shape, since Brazilian landscapes are more luminous than European landscapes. His work brings strong shades of unusual yellow and orange to foreign impressionists. Not infrequently, he takes notes in the field to perform in the studio, but he really likes painting outdoors. When he tends to abstraction, his works are pure colorful explosion, which is why the book published about his life and work bears the name of “the colors of time”.

His figures drink from the baroque and, when he looks at urban scenes, tends to expressionism as he creates more defined images.

Romanelli became interested in teenage art. At the age of 15, he painted a tile with wall paint: his first work. Encouraged by her mother, she starts to study in a self-taught way. Later, in 1963, he joined the Institute of Fine Arts, having great names like Mestres - Edgar Walter, Oswaldo Teixeira and Manoel Santiago. at the Hippie Fair in Ipanema. In 1972, however, he was embraced by the art galleries.

Testimations

"Rhythm of shapes y colors in a perfect equilibrium. In each brushstroke, La Emoción del momento rehace y is eternalized. It's everyday in the es jamás el simple transcurrir del tiempo, bell un puente between the life and art. When we see Los Cuadros de Romanelli, we think of how in an intuition of certainty: son bellos. hay en ellos una luminosidad que va más allá de los objetos y llega la fuente de la fuerza de la vida". 1991)

"Owner of a luminous and illuminated palette, Romanelli enchants for the poetry of truth and seduces by the rigorous technique of composition. In precise and textured brushstrokes, Romanelli reveals the mosaic of the Brazilian soul, the essence of mysticism and the religiosity of our people".
