Critiques

"Your work, in Truth, it has a double connection: one in time, uniting the archaic with the contemporary, another in space, uniting the place with the wider spatial context, one living in London for so long, a strategic point for the glimpse of the artistic horizon, it not only dominates the perception of contemporary culture but manages to articulate with that context of great competition and rivalry, without being absorbed by it, maintaining the originality and authenticity that connects it, not only to the Brazilian sphere but broadly, to the entire complex base of the origin of our culture due to the dimension also of black African cultures or indigenous cultures Not only Brazilians but the American continent as a whole, including pre-Columbian ones.
And in this sense there is another singularity in Ana Maria Pacheco: her erudition is quite unusual in a plastic artist. His knowledge in the areas of history, literature, poetry, iconographic tradition is of a breadth and rigor that gives it extraordinary versatility to work on different resources, languages and artistic syntaxes.
