Alexandre Orion (São Paulo SP 1978)
Alexandre Orion is a visual artist, photographer and designer. He began his work with graffiti and public art as a self-taught in 1993, and with photography from 2001. In 2004, he graduated in Visual Arts from the Montessori College – FAMEC, in São Paulo. In 2002, he created the Metabiotic Project, in which his paintings carried out on city walls intentionally establish visual relationships with passers-by and urban space. This interaction between the painted figures and the real situations is recorded in photographs, which constitute the final result of the work.
He is the author, in partnership with Monica Murakami, of the short film Uma Janela para o Mundo, produced in 2002, and, 2004, unfolding Rua Augusta, produced by Big Bonsai. In the same year, he created the Desdobramento I installation, carried out in the elevators of Galeria Ouro Fino, in São Paulo, during the Thing Fina project. In 2005, he participated in the Amalgames Brésiliens exhibitions, in Mantes-la-Jolie, and Rencontres Parallèles, at the Center d'Art Contemporain de Basse-Normandie, in Hérouville. Saint-Clair, both in France. In 2006, he began the ossuary urban intervention, in which he used only cloths to remove the soot impregnated on the walls of the Max Feffer tunnel, in São Paulo, creating images of human skulls.
Criticism
An unimportant incident
"Alexander Orion's proposal could be understood as an urban installation or a kind of exercise over representation, however, his experience flows beyond the limits of labels. Orion creates situations: walking along a street, a certain anonymous passerby Victim of an incident in his life. He was chosen, he becomes a character. Chance brought together the artist and character in an unusual situation. Nothing will be like before. The incident lasts a fraction of a second, the time of photography. The place where it occurs: the street itself, the space of photography. and the wall as a background, an event, an incident, another scene from the imaginary theater of Orion: the fragment (apparently) unimportant in which its characters are eternalized. They left home without premeditating anything. At the end of that day they gained visibility, much more than the "fifteen minutes of fame" promised; They gained countless minutes of exposure in the gallery, in the media, in the publication."

The urban ossuary of Orion
