Alberto Dias D'Almeida Teixeira (São João do Estoril, Portugal 1925 - Campinas SP 2011)
Painter, draftsman and teacher.
He studies drawing and painting at the National Society of Fine Arts in Lisbon between 1947 and 1950. In the last year, he interrupts his studies and moves to São Paulo, where he has classes with Flexor (1907-1971) and, between 1952 and 1955, becomes a member of the Atelier-abstraction. In 1956, he traveled to Paris, where he remained until 1958, having contact with the postulates of lyrical abstractionism. Back in Brazil, he works as a professor of drawing and painting at MAC/Campinas, 1968, in addition to teaching a theoretical course on Initiation in the Fine Arts at the Center for Sciences, Letters and Arts, 1970. In São Paulo, he teaches visual arts and art history at Colégio São Luís, 1972. He holds, between 1972 and 1977, the position of Full Professor at PUC/Campinas and at the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Araras. His participation in the Leirner Contemporary Art Award and the 1st Esso Salon of Young Artists earn him, respectively, his second and first prize in painting.
Criticism
"... Alberto Teixeira's painting pleases. convincing. It emerges from an expressional graphic, from the origins of an intelligent and sensitive design, often projected in an atmospheric permanence that supports it in every way. Relief, although indifferently, plays it, as a constructive factor, in those fields, in those atmospheres. And they are signs, notations, objects disconnected from any relationship, in an arbitrary world, in which the poetic serves as the main fixing conduit of suggestion and image. A visualist, on whose basis we will almost always find the secret of a good structure, although it develops in a free fantasy, it is also a very sensitive colorist, whose imaginative formulation of color, fringes in marks, in notes and lines and wefts, in which blues, ash, lands, and Still a certain availability for the fusion 'fumée', sometimes in opaque, sometimes in transparent extensions, make up a personal characteristic continuity very well."

"(...) makes an abstract painting, although structured. Large chromatic areas, sometimes smooth, sometimes slightly disturbed in their matter, lean against the different colored areas (...) that fragments of great plastic events of infinite serials and infinite successions of colored areas".

"I always had the impression that Teixeira was not performing very quickly or even lightly his works, compared to many others who followed the line of the informal and present us with unmature solutions. of our master, who has worked in Campinas for some time, let them see the deep meditation that is inserted in them. It may be that the environment there allows for more contemplation than our now convulsed metropolis. In any case, we are seeing how Alberto Teixeira managed to develop the sequence for many years. logic of his images. The firm character and more the permanent position within the modern highlight the work of Teixeira, alien to such passing fads".
