Brazilian carnival artist in his famous series "Retratos de Revista", created around 2003-2008. As is characteristic of Vik Muniz, the image is not a traditional painting. The portrait of Joãosinho Trinta was built from a detailed collage of small magazine clippings, which, seen from afar, form the physiognomic image of the carnivalesque. The "magazine portraits" series focuses on known icons, celebrities and the artist's personal heroes. The work seeks to reflect on fame, the media image and the transformation of everyday materials into art. The montage was photographed by Vik Muniz himself, the final photo being the work of art commercialized and exposed, allowing a new perspective on the known image of Joãosinho Trinta. This work is part of the pantheon of Brazilian personalities portrayed by Vik, alongside figures such as Pelé and João Ubaldo Ribeiro.
