Biography

Tuneu (São Paulo, 1948)

Tuneu is a painter and draftsman. He studied with Tarsila do Amaral and was influenced by Wesley Duke Lee. He began his artistic career in the 1960s, presenting his works in the art salons of Campinas. Among the most relevant exhibitions in which he participated, the following stand out: in 1967, the XVI Salão Paulista de Arte Moderna and the IX Bienal de São Paulo; In 1968, the I Salão do Jovem (Campinas) and the XVII Salão Paulista de Arte Moderna. Between 1967 and 1975, he was awarded the Itamarati Acquisition Award (1971 and 1975) and participated in several editions of the current Brazilian art panorama at MAM/SP, São Paulo, between 1971 and 1989.

He was also present at the III and VI Salão Paulista de Arte Contemporânea, at MASP, in São Paulo, in 1971 and 1975, and in Art on 2nd Street, in São Paulo, in 1984. More recently, he participated in the Off Bienal at Mube, in São Paulo, in 1996. His work is characterized by geometric abstractionism, with a reduced expression to the minimum, seeking to create optical and movement effects.
