Biography

Naia Ceschin (São Paulo, 1987)

Naia Ceschin is a Brazilian illustrator, designer and visual artist. He holds a bachelor's degree in Visual Communication – Design from the Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM) and has a postgraduate degree in contemporary artistic practices from the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation (FAAP). His artistic training includes courses held at the Tomie Ohtake Institute, in São Paulo, in 2012, and at the Parque Lage Visual Arts School, in Rio de Janeiro, in 2014.

His professional trajectory is also linked to the field of illustration and design. Naia Ceschin developed prints and visual projects for brands such as Havaianas, Alpargatas, Natura Ekos and Hering. His work with Natura Ekos included illustrations for the brand's gift packaging, developed for the 2019 and 2020 commemorative editions. The project was carried out by Tátil Design and received, at the 2020 Brasil Design Award, a bronze medal in the category of illustration.

The relationship between illustration, geometric shapes and organic elements also appears in his design-oriented production. In his work for surfaces, he uses vibrant colors, geometric shapes and references linked to Brazilian landscapes. The partnership with Arezzo, in the Brazilian Women's collection by Naia Ceschin, explored organic and geometric elements, in addition to a palette of vibrant colors and prints developed by the artist. Ceschin has been developing authorial research in the field of visual arts. His production investigates possible relationships between painting and embroidered tapestry. Textures, lines and different materials are used in the construction of drawings that start from external and internal references, including records of experiences, memories, dreams and sensations. In her research, the artist brings elements closer to the plant and cellular worlds and transforms them into landscapes that do not follow a conventional logic.

Nature occupies an important place in this process. In its production, natural elements can serve both as a visual reference and as a material part of the work. An example is this coconut tree that gives... (2024), presented at the exhibition Abre Alas #20, d'A Gentil Carioca, in Rio de Janeiro, in 2025. The work was carried out with wool, recycled string, a dry coconut leaf and wooden beads. According to the artist, the work was born from the encounter with a coconut tree leaf during a walk. From the observation of its shape and texture, Naia created an embroidered design that accompanies the natural movement of the leaf.

Naia Ceschin also participated in artistic accompaniment groups guided by Thiago Honório and Ana Paula Cohen and, according to the biography published in the exhibition catalog Alas #20, provides guidance with Lais Myrrha.

His recent trajectory includes participation in collective exhibitions in São Paulo. In 2023, he was part of construction, it is already a ruin, held at the construction site – Espaço de Arte, curated by Nina Tomé. The exhibition brought together artists from different training areas who, since 2022, have maintained a dialogue around their productions. Artistic.

In 2024, he participated in the exhibition The things are in the world, held at Delirium – Espaço de Arte, curated by Lais Myrrha. The show brought together, in addition to Naia Ceschin, Anderson Marques, Isabella Carvalho, Isadora Bertholdo and Nina Tomé, artists from different training areas. The project started from the attention to everyday things and the use of objects and materials found as part of the creation processes.

In the same year, he participated in Além Têxtil, at Shed 556, in São Paulo, an exhibition curated by Katia Salvany dedicated to Different possibilities of using textiles in contemporary art. The show brought together artists such as Andrea Cabrini, Anna Guerra, Fernando Soares, Isabella Carvalho, Jussi Szilagyi, Lucas Quintas, Paula Ceroni, Rafaela Jemmene, Renata Di Domenico and Serena Garcia, in addition to Naia Ceschin.

In 2025, he participated in the twentieth edition of the Abre Alas exhibition, held by A Gentil Carioca, in Rio de Janeiro. Naia was one of 34 artists selected from 607 portfolios analyzed by the curatorial team. On the occasion, he presented this coconut tree that gives... (2024), a work that highlights his research on the approximation between embroidery, natural materials and the construction of forms.

The production of Naia Ceschin develops, thus, from the dialogue between different languages and procedures. His experience with illustration and design approaches an artistic research that uses painting, embroidery and tapestry to investigate relationships between shape, color, texture, nature, memory and perception. Between manual processes and references built throughout her trajectory, the artist develops a production in which organic and geometric elements are found in compositions that transit between abstraction and figuration.
